Mmmm, Tuna Salad

Before I started eating healthier on purpose, I loved cold tuna salad with fresh chopped tomato. Even back then, I made it with light salad dressing. I still use the Kraft Light, but now I pay attention when I spoon it out. A little really does go a long way, especially if you ring the container with the chopped tomato. (The juice takes care of any lingering dryness.)

In my tuna salad I also toss in some chopped apple, celery, sweet pickle relish, and sometimes a chopped boiled egg. On rare occasions, if I just happen to have some that need to be used, I'll add some sliced black olives. Before I became a mindful eater, I loved crackers with my tuna and tomato. And lots of 'em. Now I use whole grain crackers and only five or six. Add a wedge of watermelon on the side and on hot summer days, I can't think of anything better.

The whole luscious meal is around 225 calories total, and I'm full forever. Or until dinner, whichever comes first.

What's your recipe for tuna salad? Any "secret" ingredients I'm missing out on?

Thanks to the kiwi girl for reminding me that I haven't made tuna salad in a while.

Mmm your tuna salad sounds devine! Mine is fairly standard. I mix in finely chopped red onion, celery and tuna, then add salt, pepper and a goodly amount of parsely. I do mix mayo into mine, but I use the canola mayo (it has half the fat and calories, and no artificial ingrediants), but Im careful to measure. I then like to stuff it into a ripe tomato and eat it with a few pretzles on the side. It's another "stuffed for days" kind of meal.

Thanks for sharing, Im so going to give your version a shot!

my tuna salad is pretty standard, but I'm quite fond of my chicken salad.

Get a rotisserie chicken, remove all skin, tear the meat into small pieces. Add 1/2 cup fat free miracle whip or fat free yogurt (or fat free sour cream). Add 1/4 cup feta cheese crumbles. 1/2 diced onion, 1 diced tomato, 12 black olives, sliced, 1 cup frozen (thawed) peas, and 2 tablespoons dill weed.

1 cup is about 4 points, very tasty.

I don't eat tuna salad per se anymore but I like to add it to my salad: baby romaine, walnuts, garlic stuffed olives, 1/4 avocado, 1 pouch tuna, 1/2 cup kidney beans and usually balsamic vinaigrette or raspberry vinaigrette.

Your recipes sounds great. I also like to add lettuce to my tuna salad sandwiches.

I usually just throw in whatever I have that is going to go bad if I don't use it. I like to use onions, red grapes, roasted red peppers, very little mayo (just enough to make it stick) and a drop of mustard for a little zing.
