Nip It!
I am currently under snack attack, for some reason. Nothing devastating to the flabby waistline (an extra banana here, a sugar-free pudding there), but I don't like this deviation from my routine. I feel a little less in control, if you know what I mean. As I type this I've decided my best counter measure may be the retrieval from the desk drawer of my "hunger scale", which is an index card with ratings for the level of hunger I'm feeling (or think I'm feeling.) I suspect some of the snacking may actually be Level 1 "I'm really just bored" snacking, and that Will.Not.Do. In the words of the immortal Barney Fife, I need to "Nip it! Nip it in the bud."
Oh, terrific. Now I'm going to go around all day singing "Nip it!" in my head.
Wait, that might actually work.
::sigh::
The things I do to be fitter.
Before I return you to the normal world, I'd like to thank you commenter friends for giving me an awesome idea for my (pending, I'm sure) Goal Celebration! When I reach goal, I will post a photo of my very own feet! LOL Do NOT ask me why I think this is a good idea, but it struck my fancy and it seems like fun. And if we're not going to have fun here, then let's just all pack it in. (For the squeamish among you, I will try to figure out how to post the image behind a cut. I have awfully big feet so the image will be large by necessity. *G*)
Hmm, so other than the sincere thank you, I have nothing truly worthwhile to contribute to the community today. Time to sign off. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
And remember: Nip it!

ooh, the promise of some hot foot action from Miss C! Watch your blog numbers spike ;)
I'll see your snack attack blues and raise you a eating-everything-in-sight funk. Oh well, we will prevail! One day at a time :)
"Nip it" indeed!
Do you like tea? Whenever I have snack attacks I drink lots of tea.
At least, that's my theory. Sometimes it works. Other times I start to make tea and then I think to myself "oh, screw it", and enjoy a snack:)
But vegetables like carrots are good for munching on if you're just looking for something to eat. I adore carrots.
Oooooo I just hate that feeling of constantly wanting to graze. I suppose it's quasi ok if you are grazing on carrot sticks, but seriously, who does that?
As for the hunger scale, that sounds like a good call. At least you are conscious of how your behavior and are addressing it early on. That is the victory, right there.
THANKS SO much for commenting on blog post... i am going to link you to my list so I can visit yours often.. I like your NIP post.. I should have been saying that all week lol...
OH My - I need to find a way to NIP it today - I'm having the same struggle this week and I'm not sure why. I'm TRYING to snack healthy, but I know I'm still getting more calories this week than I normally do.
Have a great weekend and I hope you are able to NIP it, I know I sure plan to try my hardest to do the same!
I have a snack attack going on today also. Thanks for posting about yours, perhaps it will keep me from going over board.
The afternoons are when I want to snack, and snack, and snack some more. I need to keep myself busy.
So, part of the celebration, will be of course treating yourself to a pedicure, yes? And I mean the ultimate pedicure where you get to be massaged, have sea salt and lotion slathered all over your aching dogs, calluses removed, nails made pretty, etc. Do it!
I totally know what you mean. when you have control over food things feel great, but when you start to let things slide and feel less in control, its hard. but you are right, nip it in the bud right away or those behaviors could turn into bigger problems than just an extra piece of banana or such.
Cammy, I literally laughed when I read NIP IT! I could just picture old Barney Fife saying it - who was skinny as a rail, wasn't he? Hmmm - maybe he had something there! :-)
Are there any hobbies you enjoy - something you could do to keep your hands busy AND your mind off snacking? Just a thought.
Hang in there, sweetie!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. i've been up to my eyeballs in "end-of-the-school-year" stuff, so no blogging for me for a while. :(
Would you be kind enough to share your "hunger scale" info with me? i think it would be helpful for me.
Also, i LOVE the Portia Nelson poem. Fits my life in so many ways...
blessings on your day!
Ah! I have to say that I think you've done the best thing you possibly good: you voiced your problem. I've found that when I speak about something I don't feel quite right about it brings it out into the open and seems to fizzle away. I hope this happens for you, too! Have a lovely weekend.
Oh, and I second the tea recommendation. If you need some suggestions, I have LOTS!
and of course now *I* have the old song WHIP IT by DEVO in my head---but with the words NIP IT.
good times :)
for me the nipping is HARD. teeth brushing? tried it. taking up knitting? not gonna happen...sitting on my MizFit hands? prolly the best idea ;)
MizFit
Oooh....feet!
LOLL!
I have bug feet too.
Was it the moon? I had the munchies too. Finally ended mine with a salad with Catalina free on it. That "Nipped It" for me. I too would like for you to share your "hunger scale."
Can hardly wait to see those feet!!
Enjoy your weekend!!
I also believe in nipping things in the bud! Once you've entertained an idea, it's hard to get rid of it... much like an unwelcome guest.
