HYC Update - Week 24
I'm pleased, and a tad surprised, to report a 2.8 pound loss from last week (-1.6 from Friday). I honestly don't expect to see those kinds of losses this close to the goal range, but then I've never been anywhere NEAR a goal range before, so what do I know.
Average exercise was good last week, somewhere around 75 minutes per day. That includes a significant amount of heavy yard work (my neighbor keeps yelling at me to rest! LOL), two strength training sessions, one walk and one 8-mile bike ride.
Tonight is the first session of the nutrition class I signed up for. I'm really looking forward to it, as I'm starting to feel the faint stirrings of anxiety as I get closer to a maintenance lifestyle. Even though I'm the one who has made the healthy eating decisions, and I'm the one who exercised six days a week for the past year, and I'm the one who changed her longheld beliefs about fitness and weight loss, it all still feels a little bit "magical", as if I didn't really do that much. Which is crazy girl talk, I think, but then again, I never said I wasn't a teensy bit crazy. :)
Oh well, if the first year was "Getting to the Promised Land", we'll make the second year "Building a House in the Promised Land." I'm going to do everything I can to make it a sturdy house, able to withstand the fiercest storms, because it's where I hope to live for a long, long time.
I hope you all had a magnificent week. I'll try to check in throughout the day, but I'm not sure how far I'll get due to the class tonight. But I'll catch up eventually!

you DID do it all.
DO.
not "tried"
and should feel great about it.
happy tuesday!
That is so FANTASTIC! Just a little jealous ;)
wow.. that's a GREAT loss! well done woman!
YOU definitely did all of that, nothing to do with magic. Sweat and hard work more likely!
Congratulations! Yes, you most definitely did it, and are still doing it. Maybe it feels magical because it was exactly what we've been TOLD to do all our lives, (you know, healthy food and exercise) but never really believed would work because it was too old-fashioned, simple and common-sense? Which is not even remotely the same as "easy". :-) But magic only works if you make it work.
You've definitely earned it. And deserve it. Kudos!

Soooo what is the countdown of "pounds till goal"?
I am O SO Jealous...it seems like every other week you have a new shiny badge! WAY TO GO GIRL!
There you go again. You ROCK!!
I'm so proud of you. I'm proud of your dedication and determination. You are amazing.
I was ready to quit this stupid trip to a healthier me last week and I kept telling myself "I can't let Cammy down." You are the inspiration that keeps me going, gal.
So happy for you, that's fantastic!
You will do great, you have a great attitude and have built a great foundation.
Go Cammy!
That transition from losing to maintaining can be challenging, so I think you're very wise to seek some help. Let us know if we can help you haul bricks to make your house strong!
Yay you! I'd like to know your countdown to goal, too. I have no idea how to pick my final goal.
Keep it up, you DID do it, and deserve every ounce of pride and credit!
Congrats on all of your successes!
Hurray! Great results this week! And look at that beautiful bling.
Working in the yard agrees with you.
I understand that anxiety. I'm feeling it too. Too many times I've reached this point, and then something happened and I stop working on becoming healthier. I'm still really focused and learning from my failures and successes, really want to stay this way mentally so I'll change physically.
Have another great week, Cammy!
awesome loss!! Going to a nutrition class is such a good idea. The walking group i go to also does classes with a nutritionist who also shows how to cook what to eat etc. I'm seriously thinking of signing up.
You did every bit of the hard work, and you should enjoy your success!!! Great job!
That is awesome!! Great job!!
You go girl! :) That is an awesome check in!
You are rocking it! Thats great!
email me at honib1@aol.com and I will give you the info as to what happened.. also CONGRATS on the weight loss.. wow can u send that my way please.. please send that KARMA to HONI .. :-) and feel free to forward my post to anyone..
I love the "building a house in the Promised Land" metaphor -- very apt!
Awesome! I think any one of us would take that kind of loss and celebrate!
Good luck with your class! And isn't it amazing when you discover what you're capable of accomplishing? :)
Woo Hoo! Great job this week! Wish I could say the same. I am glad I enjoy the yard work, because it kicks my butt! Enjoy your class.
I've been away from the computer for a bit but it looks as though you are doing GREAT!!!
75 minutes of exercise a day! Woah!
No wonder you are getting close to hitting the "maintenance" phase!
Congrats + best wishes,
Sharon
Great Job!!
way to go on approaching your goal! Your exercise "record" is amazing and inspirational. :)
Congrats - I totally know what you mean about it feeling like you really didn't do much. I feel that way sometimes, too - but then I see a picture of myself weighing 200 pounds and I'm like - "dude, I really DID accomplish something here!" That magical feeling will quickly dissipate, however, if you start regaining so - good going on the nutrition class and planning ahead for maintenance! I've lost and regained and man, that really sucks. Hope you have a great week!
That's awesome that you lost more weight! Good for you girl!
I think it's great you are doing the nutrition class. It shows you are serious about maintaining your results and you don't want to fall into bad habits again. Enjoy!
I agree, no magic. A lot of perseverance and perspiration.
Have you ever read the book "Thin for Life"?
You are such an inspiration.
I love it! "Building a house in the Promised Land..." What an awesome analogy. I'm so excited for you!
I'm about 23 pounds away from my goal so I'm just beginning to entertain those thoughts of maintenance as well. I am definitely interested in what you learn in your nutrition class (such a great idea) and what you learn as you ease into maintenance.
Awesome job Cammy!
Congrats on your lose...way to go!!!
you and I will be in that together! I am nervous too about maintenance (which is probably why I am going to stick with weight loss a bit longer after goal). different focus, but still doable and I know yo ucan do it. great job this week and I hope your class is worthwhile!
wow--90lbs..you are amazing..Hard work, determination and self control!!Enjoy your class tonight!
Wow, that is just incredible! I love your house metaphor, btw. I will have to tuck that one away for my own use. :)
Yeah for you! Great job!
I love your analogy about the house - it is so appropriate and beautiful. I loved working with my dietician, I know you will too. Congrats on another fantastic week!
Excellent loss this week!
I love the concept of building a house, because that's probably the hardest part of weight loss - maintaining it.
