HYC Check In Week 31

If we had awards for boring check in reports, I'm pretty sure I'd win. If you're looking for drama, angst, or controversy, it's not here. I kind of like it that way. :)

For the scale portion of the check in, I show either a half-pound gain or maybe a little more. Or is it a little less? Math escapes me. I'm calling it a flat week, celebrating, and moving on.

I took advantage of the tax-free weekend to replace my worn out sneakers. I've loved my Asics, but I decided to try this pair of Mizuno's for the next while. Tonight will be the first test walk, if I get out of the office in time.

Not to alarm anyone, but I cooked last night. Barbecued chicken on my George Foreman grill. I had a rather large nibble, and I have to say it's pretty tasty chicken. I may try something new this weekend. If this trend continues, I may invest in a newer model grill, one with removable grilling plates. We'll see. I do not need another kitchen appliance to dust.

And finally, will someone please tell me how in the hell to hula-hoop? I found mine in a closet, and I've tried and tried, but so far bending over to pick it up off the floor is the only workout I'm getting. Well, that, and laughing hysterically, which as we learned yesterday is really good for us.

I hope you all had an awesome week! You certainly deserved it!

I love my Foreman Grill. Perfect for me and all the other non-cooks out there!

You think hula-hooping is hard?!? Try explaining how to hula hoop. I think its impossible!

=)

Yeah, I haven't mastered my new hula hoop either...it's REALLY pretty though! Blue with glittery pink and green sprinkled through it!

I must admit.....after the first couple days of not being able to do it, I haven't tried it. I hate being a failure.

Here's my pledge.....each day I will will spend a few minutes with it. I'll also google for some helpful hints. Keep me posted on how it goes for you!

You mean picking up the hoop from the floor isn't what you're supposed to do with one of those things?

Uh oh.

I love my George too! I am still trying to get the hang of the hoop! Made it go 3 times this morning! I have posted a link to hula-hoop how-to's on my blog. Hope it helps!

LOL...can't help with the hoop, I've never been able to do that worth a darn.

I do love my George Foreman though! You may have already done this, but here's a tip: chicken breasts are even better if you pound them to about a half-inch thickness with a tenderizer before grilling - they cook faster and are WAY more tender, as the outside doesn't get tough. Mmm... :-)

Removable grilling plates would be good. I've learned to only use mine on nights when I am doing the dishes, as ED hates cleaning the grill. Heh.

Hey Cammy, I'm catching up on blog reading this morning to the comment hits several post.

One I love to laugh!!! However, I find humor in most anything and that has led to some embarssing moments. LOL

Hula Hoop. I loved to do that when I was a child but now I can't keep the blankly blank blank thing up!!! When you master it let me know.

George Forman Grill. I did invest in one with removable and reversible plates. Grill groves on one side and flat griddle on the other. Snap to wash just take the cooking plates off and stick them in the dishwasher. LOVE IT!!

Have a great week. JC

I do cook, and my GF grill is very dusty. Don't know why I don't use it, hm.

Hula hoop, forget about it. I tried it at my nieces bday party last weekend, ha. The thing will only stay up if I circle it around my neck. What happened? As a kid, I could walk around the block and do it. Sheez.

Good Golly Miss Molly, I think the problem with the hula-hoop is that our bodies don't move like that any more. I know I used to do it when I was a kid but tried it a coupla years ago and ended up picking it up of the floor about a zillion times.

Are we going to have to start calling you "Chef Cammy?"

Too funny! Who knew the Hula Hoop was a tricky way to get you to do bendovers!

It dropped to the floor?
I'd be afraid that it'd get stuck around my hips *g*
My neighbour swears by her GF grill but I haven't taken the plunge. Good to know about the removable plates.
Hula On!

Now that hula-hoop sounds like fun! I've also been thinking about a jump rope. There's something about both of these that feel less like exercise and more like goofiness - and I love that idea!

Congrats on a boring week, Cammy. What a nice place to be in!

I think that is the exercise of hula hooping is picking it up off the ground.

My niece was in a contest at a local fair for hula hooping and won. The girl has no hips..not sure how she kept it up. Maybe that's the secret to have no hips?

Hey, i was gonna leave you a link to the instructions on dadivastreet's blog, but i see she beat me to it. my most recent hula-hooping has been on the Wii Fit my hubby bought for me. i can actually make that one go around...didn't have much luck with the real thing when i was a kid... wonder how i'd do now. Really felt it in my abs after doing the WiiFit one. How sad...i'm sore from a virtual hula-hoop! LOL

George Foreman is marvelous. As for the hula hooping, it just takes a lot of practice! It took me forever to get the hang of it and even now I can only hula for so long before it clatters to the floor. Seriously, Olympic sport right there!

I feel like I'm being left out of a club - am I the only one who doesn't own either a GF Grill or a hula-hoop?!

Is there some secret hula-hooping challenge going on that I don't know about?

Congratulations on keeping up your good work, Cammy.

Yay, a fellow hula hooper! The only advice I can offer is practice and more practice. When I first got mine, I was always having to pick it up, too. Pretty soon you'll get the rhythm down and you will be hoopin like a pro. Don't give up!

Oh, I've been wanting to check out those shoes.

You'll have to let us know how you like them! I've got Adidas now and like them a lot but wouldn't mind a change.

Good stuff!

I think not thinking is part of the secret to a successful hula hoop experience; however I over analyze EVERYTHING so I'm not successful :) But I'm ok with that. I love your posts Cammy--they always make me smile :)

you havent seen my hula video @ MizFit?
Ill send you the link.

it is fanTAStic. (really? no, Cammy, no not really :))

and I adore my George.
They make some FANCY grills but there is nothing better than that chicken which looks almost like it has been pressed between two irons (doesnt it?!)---I love it!

I just started running in the Wave Rider 11. So far I've got about 20 miles on them. And I really like them, so far!

Good work on a good week. I totally agree; boring is best with these things :-)

I love your idea about the reminders on your computer - to drink the water. Best one I've heard yet! I think I'll try that too.

As for the hula hoop -I was the queen when I was a kid - could do it for hours! (well...not hours -but a pretty long time!) And now??? Oh my! It's a real challenge!

At August 5, 2008 10:34 PM , Blogger MB said...

The trick to the hula hoop is you have to put one foot in front of the other and move your hips back and forth not try to go round and round. Let me know if that helps. :)

Those shoes look great!

I can't hula around my waist, never have been able to. But I can around my neck, arms, and legs. Trying to describe, lol...well I'm not sure how to exactlty direct you.

The GF sounds neat. Never used one before!

Congrats on keeping up all the fun and hard work! :D

Hey girl! I'm living off of my George Foreman grill. Can't watch my weight without it!

At August 6, 2008 10:37 AM , OpenID wvsooner said...

I pull my foreman out once a week, cook steak, chicken, fish, and pork chops and then throw them in the fridge. I just can't handle cooking for one all the time. Plus, it can be a pain to clean up.

Hula hooping is easy - it just requires good hip motion like you would do dancing or other things. I'd show you how, but then I'd never get rid of you! LOL
