New Personal Challenge: The Tippy Toe 500
Good morning from windblown Memphis!
A major storm system blew through on Friday afternoon, and the area is still in clean-up mode. My parents got their power back yesterday afternoon, but my sister and her hubby are still without. It could take up to a week, according to the power people, but we're hopeful for less time. For me, life just keeps rolling along. I've logged another successful week of maintenance and hit all my targets in that area. (I love when that happens!)
I've kind of grown bored with my gym routine, so I'm mixing it up again. I was considering resuming my 100 Push-up Challenge training (I stopped at 41), but while I was checking out the program, I noticed a link to the 200 Squat Challenge. Since I do squats as part of my regular training, I thought what the heck, I'll do the squat challenge, too.
Sounds like fun, right? Well, then I noticed the 200 Sit-up Challenge. "That would be craziness," I said.
"But you ARE crazy," I answered. "It's one of the things I like best about you."
Thus, the Tippy Toe 500 was born: 200 Sit-ups, 200 Squats, and 100 Push-ups. The programs call for a six-week training period, but I'm not getting hung up on that. I suspect I'll need longer--a LOT longer--than six weeks, and that will be okay. It will also be okay if I never complete all three programs. The fun will be in the chase.
The immediate plan is to complete the first two weeks of training, and then assess how I feel about continuing. I'd like to at least make it to the "250" mark (100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and 50 push-ups), but if/when I catch myself dreading my workouts, then I'll press the pause button or maybe rewind a bit. Or eject the disc completely. :)
The fun starts tomorrow. Wish me luck!
For now, I'm going to return to a lazy Sunday morning. We have more storms rolling through, but nothing severe so far. Let's hope that continues!
Hope you're all having a marvelous weekend!
~

good luck! that sounds like a great challenge!
I must be crazy too, I'm about to start week 2 of the big 500 too, so far so good.
My hat's off to you for your next challenge Cammy, yikes! I'm no where near your fitness level yet, but one day I will be able to join you in some of these fitness challenges. You are doing so well on maintenance, cudos to you girl! Tomorrow at the gym besides my workout with my trainer for an hour, I'm going to try Adria's great tip from her blog at FitTipDaily, have you seen it yet. We can get a full body workout that burns tons of calories with a Kettlebell. I had seen these weird looking creatures at the gym but didn't know what to do with it, but Adria has posted some ideal short videos showing how to use them. Something fun and new, thought you might be interested in trying them too and both of us can revive our workouts so not to get bored. Enjoyed your post, as usual, can't wait to hear about those sit-ups. Linda
I'm sure you'll forgive me if I don't join you... Good luck! I'll be here cheering you on!
Good luck on the initial 250--if anyone can it's you!
Good luck! I have a friend doing something similar. I'm kinda jealous actually.
Wow, you are crazy lol. But this does sound like a lot of fun. I know you can do it. Can't wait to hear how it is going.
You ARE crazy! :-D But you are awesome, too and I know you'll do an awesome job of kicking this challenge.

Good luck! You might even inspire me to do a squat or two. I love the idea.
First, hope all works out well with the storm clean up & all.. YIKES!
Congrats on meeting all your goal & really impressed with your next goal.. HOLY COW! You are brave. I can't wait to hear all about it!!! Amazing!
I would try it but I don't want to give up my weights & I know that would just poop me out!!! :-)
I hope the storm bypassed you again, and that your sister has power sooner rather than later.
I love your challenge! If I even did 10 real push ups, I would think I was ready for the Oprah show! Hmmm...you might have just inspired me to try a modified version of this Cammy....thinking, thinking....
Love the challenge. I might modify it slightly and begin my own. Maybe begin with 50's. Then in another year or so, I'll catch up to the 100's. :)
You go get 'em girl. I'm impressed.
I adore those challenges... I'm getting ready to do my assessment for the sit up challenge (not today, tho, as I just got back from an 11 mile walk and I'm a bit wore out...)
I DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS A 200 SQUATS CHALLENGE!!!
(I'm a little excited about that prospect).
LOVE your idea of the Tippy Toe 500!
That is a badass challenge to yourself. Go Cammy!
GOOD LUCK!!!
That sounds like a lot of pain! But I'm sure you will go forth and conquer.
Ooh, I LIKE the sounds of that. The Tippy Toe 500! I might just have to challenge myself to that.
How's it going so far?
I know it's your personal challenge for yourself, but I'm game. :) What a great idea. I'm going to tack them on with the Tibetan Rites. :) I printed off the initial test and week one pages, so I don't feel pressured to keep going if I'm miserable.
Thank you for the idea. :) You can do it!
I just started working on the same thing... keep us posted on your results!
