Some Friday Topic Hoppin'

Greetings from the tiredest person you know. This home remodeling biz will definitely take the wind out of your sails. Having paid someone to paint both bathrooms, with less than remarkable results, I’ve decided to tackle the next paint project myself. They’re two itsy bitsy rooms (guest/exercise room and home office)–what could go wrong? Next week should be fun. :)

In some good-Cammy news, I received the lab results from my recent doctor visit! I’m sharing them here as a measure of my success:

Results Factor Goal
168 Total Cholesterol Less than 200 mg/dL
101 LDL (“Bad”) Cholesterol LDL cholesterol goals vary.
    Less than 100 is Optimal
    100 to 129 is Near Optimal/Above Optimal
130 to 159 is Borderline High
    160 to 189 is High
    190 is Very High
55 HDL (“Good”) Cholesterol 50 or higher
58 Triglycerides 150
120/80 Blood Pressure 120/80
76 Fasting Glucose 100

I am quite pleased, especially with that “good” cholesterol number. It was 30 last year.

I am also pleased with my snazzy table and sincerely hope it displays properly in your browser. I used a nifty little online app called Tableizer, which requires only that you copy/paste your spreadsheet contents into a little box. Then, presto! They generate the code. FOR FREE! Next, I’ll learn how to align it properly. :)

Oh, and in the event you’re like me and didn’t understand why total cholesterol didn’t equal HDL + LDL, you have to add in 1/5 of the total triglycerides. I’ve checked this off my to-do of “learn something new every day.”

Okay, on to starred links from my reader:

And with that, I’m ready for the weekend. Nothing going on here but work, work, work. Unfortunately, the two rooms I’ve decided to paint contain all my computers and related peripherals, books, office supplies, files, and exercise equipment. And that all has to be relocated somewhere else in this house.

So unless you can give me a good reason why not, I’ll expect you all here tomorrow a.m. at 10:00. How ’bout it? What have you got going on this weekend that’s somehow more important than helping me move heavy crap a few things from room to room?

Whatever it is, I hope you enjoy it! :)

  1. Good luck with your painting!!!

Congrats on the great blood work. I just recently got some snazzy blood results too. My only negative thing was that I have low iron.

Sorry I won't be able to help out, but I need to get a new passport. Next time count me in.

  2. Great job on the blood work! It's amazing what eating right and exercising can do on the inside, not just on the outside, isn't it?

I love to do home improvement stuff, and I love to paint! It's the easiest and cheapest way to freshen up a room 😀

  3. Great numbers! I feel your pain! This week we had foundation repair done in our basement office and needed to move out all our stuff and reconnected it in a temporary location. Which is where I sit now:)

  4. Great numbers! Congrats!

And I HATE painting. I think I've painted every room in the house and I'm sorry I won't be attending your painting party. LOL!

  5. Openly jealous! Not of the painting– I'm in a home improvement frenzy myself, and painting is one thing I will more or less cheerfully tackle– but of your fabulous fasting blood sugar. Those are some crazy low triglicerides, too. Woot!

  6. Those are some great numbers. Good job!

If I wasn't so far away I'd be there to help. On the bright side, lifting and moving all that stuff will be a great work out.

  7. Congrats on those lab readings!! I don't know about you, but I always feel so proud when receiving good news like that from the doctor. :-)

  8. OK, I missed this! CONGRATS! I hope you survived the remodel weekend!

  9. That's really great!! Just wondering, is your BP less when not in the doctor's office? With all your excellent (the President should follow YOUR example), numbers I would expect your BP to be a little lower.

  10. Hope you had a good weekend and that you managed to get everything done! Also HURRAY about the lab results 😀

  11. You are so cute Cammy, have fun with the remodeling. Anyway I also hate when I pay someone to do something I could have done better on my own, you'll have fun and it'll be great!

So to the cholesterol I am so inspired by you! I am trying so hard to improve mine as well, it has been borderline high for the last three years, my biggest losers at works ends at the end of May and that is exactly when I will get my blood work done, so I hope I can make some good changes in the next three months in addition to ones I hope have already been made since I got my workout butt in high gear last June… (love the table BTW!) :-)

  12. Great job on the health numbers! Sorry I missed the big move. Wouldn't have been much help with my danged bum knee. 😛 And, um, the travel time. 😉

I gave you an award on my blog if you have the time to check it out. 😀
