Happy Independence Day

Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday (or non-holiday) weekend, free of anxiety, turmoil, or drama! And potato salad, if that’s a problem for you. :)

Me? I see a cheeseburger in my immediate future. What’s on your plate (literal or figurative) for this weekend?

  1. Let’s see:

Anxiety – letting teen son and his friend take jet skis out on the lake on the busiest weekend of the year and later hoping neither gets hurt lighting fireworks.
    Turmoil – Food. Always food.
Drama – spending the weekend with family when the the dynamics have been even worse lately than usual. Sigh.
Yep – that about covers it:)

    Have a great one!

  2. No holiday here, but we’ve invited the in-laws for a barbeque (lambs rib and chicken) and I will definitely be making potato salad.

Happy 4th of July to you!

  3. GREAT PHOTO, ME! I don’t do potato salad, but don’t ask me about the birthday cake I ate last night.

I just discovered that you sent a message to my email address last month, answering my question about your ficition writing. (Too many email addresses, not enough time.)

It is so difficult to get published in ANYTHING! I was a runner-up in a local writing contest (only the winning entry was published in the newspaper), and I was a national runner-up in an essay contest for a special “Chicken Soup” book. (No publishing for that either; just got a free book with the winner’s story in it. Thanks a heap.)

After that “encouragement”, I went through a spell during which I made a serious effort to get published. No luck at all. Takes far more time to do all of the submission “paperwork” than to write the piece! That was my take-away.

So, I write for fun, too. I belong to a writer’s group that’s more social than serious. My “book” is simply a collection of stories about the stuff that happens at the food pantry where I volunteer. Since there is no “Chicken Soup for the Food Pantry Volunteer’s Soul”, I don’t think it’s going to get me very far.

Anyway, we must, we must, we must keep writing. And hope we’ll be “discovered” someday.

Happy Independence Day, fellow writer! I’m heading to the Pantry to get today’s story…..

  4. My mom-in-law is coming over tomorrow (4 Jul) around noon. We’re going to cookout steak, corn-on-the-cob (just Hubby and Kid), grilled green beans, potato salad (yes, me too), homemade garlic and parsley bread (not me) and for dessert, gf cookies and watermelon. Will probably make a half-gallon of green tea. Also … lots of fresh fruit and veggies, free choice. Not too bad.

She’s staying the night, so morning breakfast will be blueberry muffins, eggs laid by our chicken, and possibly homemade yogurt from our goat. Again, not too off my diet.

  5. Awesome pic Cammy!

Seeing that the standard picnin and BBQ food is not what I crave, I have my normal treat cookies planned for my holiday weekend! :-)

I am hoping it will be free of anxiety & drama!

Fun for us as 4 of the grandkids with their parents moved back here to CA & will see them on Monday!

    Have a great one Cammy!

  6. Hope you have a wonderful 4th too!

We had some wonderful grass-fed beef sizzler steaks from our local farm market and man, they were great!
