There’s a slim chance we’ll actually get some snow here on Christmas Day. Only an inch or so is predicted, but it will be enough to be pretty without shutting down the city.
Thank you all so much for the kindness and sympathy on my injured hand. I honestly don’t think it’s broken. The swelling is almost gone along with most of the pain. What’s left is pretty minor. Based on that, plus the lack of health insurance and/or an income, I’m going to trust that it’s bruised, not broken. I’ll baby it a bit and keep my fingers crossed.
Even with a sore-ish hand, I was still able to get in a great workout yesterday. I skipped the push-ups, planks, and jackknife (awwwww!) and kept the overhead presses and lat pulldowns. No problem with those at all! With some 15# dumb bell swings, lunges w/medicine ball raises, 40# step-ups w/kicks&torso twists, hamstring curls, and crunches, it was a good workout.
Good enough to earn me a compliment from one of the new trainers I’ve been chatting with lately, who told the client he was working with that I was “Awesome!” *happy sigh for early Christmas present* This trainer has only been with 24 Hour Fitness for a couple of weeks, and he works out before his shift, which usually coincides with my workout. Last week, he came up to me after the workout and told me I had really “kicked it” that day, which was exactly what I had just told myself! (I was especially proud of doing some single leg split squats). Anyway, NewTrainerGuy and I have been best-buds-for-an-hour-at-a-time since! I kind of like having someone to chat with, even briefly, at the gym. Especially someone who doesn’t want to chat during the workout.
Today’s exercise is supposed to be cardio, but I’m thinking I’m going to drag out my Pilates for Dummies DVD for some easy core work. I’m getting my hair done this morning, and I don’t want to work up a sweat.
Yikes, speaking of hair, my appointment is in an hour and I need to stop at Sports Authority first. (I picked up some Skull Candy headphones yesterday with a $10 cash card and those things are awful. Very tinny-sounding and not even worth the net cost of $4.00 to me. [Certainly not worth the full price of $20!] I’d rather just get a pair of socks with my cash card. :))
Sooo, this is it for me until after Christmas. Here, at least. I’m going to catch up on your happenings this afternoon. Shouldn’t sweat doing that. But in case I miss you, I’ll take this opportunity to wish you all a VERY Merry Christmas! May the days be filled only with joy and happiness (and patience!)
