Feeling Lucky? (Giveaway)

Happy 2011! Is it just me or does it seem like it was yesterday we were running around wringing our hands over Y2K?

I’m off to a great start for the year. I was at the gym at 7:30 a.m. (along with at least 4 or 5 other people) New Year’s Day where I had a most marvelous workout. It feels so good to start my year out moving my body!

Good thing I’m getting all this great exercise, because the New Year’s Day weigh-in was less than spectacular. These here tippy toes are outside the acceptable weight range and into the Red Zone. I do believe this is the first time that’s happened in two years, and while a small part of this little gain might be attributable to hormones, part of it is cookie residue Thank goodness I kept up the exercise all through the holidays!

When I saw the number on the scale, I kind of wished I had taken up the EatSmart Products team’s offer last month to send me a shiny NEW scale to review. It might have shown me to be within range. But no-o-o-o, since I already reviewed an EatSmart Bathroom scale that still works perfectly fine, it didn’t seem right to take another one, so I declined. Besides, if this NEW scale is anything like my old one it would just show my weight to be exactly what it is: too much.

And when they offered to send me an EatSmart digital kitchen scale instead, I had to decline that, since I just bought one of those last month. Y’all remember, I told you all about it.

And then, do you know what the EatSmart team said? They said, “That’s okay. Why don’t we give away a scale to one of your readers?”

And do you know what I said? Okay, well, I guess the post title kind of gave it away. For the slow: I said YES!

So here’s the scale that’s up for the giveaway:
eatsmart bathroom scale

Oooh, shiny! It’s the EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale w/ Extra Large Backlit 3.5″ Display and “Step-On” Technology. (I have the old-fashioned “kick-start” technology, which means I have to tap it with my heel to get it going.) You can check out the product particulars and the stellar reviews on Amazon. (This is EatSmart’s affiliate link, from which they will donate 100% of the December 2010 and January 2011 proceeds to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.)

So if you’re in the U.S. (sorry international folks) and interested in possibly owning a SHINY!, fancy-schmancy scale that doesn’t require a kick-start and is very consistent and reliable (even if it does tell you your real weight), all you have to do is leave me a comment *promising* you won’t be hopping off and on the thing a dozen times a day. Without the kick-start, you’re not burning extra calories, so there’s really no point. I’ll draw the winning name on Thursday (1/3/11). 1/5/11.(edited to correct)

  1. Too funny! I am doing a giveaway from them Wednesday! Anyone who doesn’t win here might want to come by after your winner announcement and try again:) Seems to be a big presence in our little blogging circle lately.

  2. Oooooh, oooooh, ooooh. I promise. (My grandkids are another matter, but I promise I won’t jump on it.

    Happy New year, Cammy!!!

  3. I promise! I try to limit myself to once a day! I got my husband the EatSmart precision bathroom scale for Christmas because their products have FANTASTIC views on amazon!

  4. I won’t be hopping on the scale every day. I can’t deal with the number more then once a week. It has a hold on me I hate. I could use a new scale though.

  5. Hi Cammy, Chin up about the little gain….I know it’s frustrating, but you’re doing SO well and are such an inspiration! It’ll drop off in no time. And hats off to you for getting to the gym on New Year’s Day!!! Have a good Monday! Take care!!

  6. Not only do I promise not to hop on and off, one of my new year’s resolutions is to weigh myself once a week, and once a week only. I’m trying to do the things that the National Weight Loss Registries winners consistently did and that one’s of them!

  7. I am fighting a bit of a holiday gain, too. Particularly frustrating since I had lost weight after my surgery. I’m fighting edema right now, so like you I’m anxious to get back where I started. You’ll hit the magic number with no problem…on the other hand, I’m still a work in progress. Happy New Year! Perhaps a new, accurate scale would benefit me. My goal is to be back in the gym by Feb. 1. The excursive right now is somewhat limited.

  8. I would love to win this! My current scale is a cheap, flimsy little thing and I have to step on and off seventeen times before I get an accurate reading. So I can totally promise that getting that scale will make me weigh myself far less! :)

  9. I promise I won’t step on and off 12 times a day, only once…and I probably won’t like what it says anyway….but I’d still love this new scale =)

  10. I promise!!
One thing this past year of not doing well has given me is relief from constant weighing. Who wanted to know?
I weighed today though, and worked out.
    Responsible weighing, I promise.

  11. Hey Cammy,
No need to enter me into the give away…I use my wii balance board to weigh! But I didn’t want to agree with you and say…ooooh shiny! lol

I’m familiar with the residual cookie….not from experience or anything. :)

Good for you getting that New Years Day workout in. Way to beat the crowd.

  12. Extra large display, eh? Just what I need, no kidding.

We seem to be starting out the new year in a similar situation (cookies + hormones = out of goal weight range).

Would love a shiny new scale that I can read (but not too much, once a day at the most — promise) without my glasses to document my triumphant return to the low 130s.

  13. Don’t enter me in the drawing because I wond a scale at our company party last month! I am just trying to figure out how to get it to stop weighing me in kg weight!

  14. I promise…I promise. I’ve got to hit diet/exercise mood hard. I’ve gain way too much weight in the last year…almost to my biggest weight when pregnant. Overwhelmed!!!

  15. Hey Cammy,
I found you through the HYC and thanks for stopping by. You were my first real comment. It completely made my day. It would also make my day to win such a shiny scale. I promise to only weigh once a day and I won’t introduce it to my old scale. She is a jealous thing.

  16. I promise not to get on it everyday….I limit it to once a week!!! unless I’m feeling really outta sorts then I sneak in an extra weigh-in or two during the week.(knowing all a long it never officially counts anyway)
I would love to win a new scale it might just be what I need for motivation.(I hope I’m not too late posting)

  17. I promise I won’t hop on and off lots during the day. I like to weigh first thing in the morning and last thing at night. And I **HATE** hubby’s scale because sometimes it remembers the last weight and calculates bmi and all of that and … well, i just don’t like his scale. Since I haven’t gotten back in the habit of counting calories or watching what I eat .. yet, I need more help. But I’m just so tired. Okay… that really sound whiney. Shame on Hubby for bringing all of this bread home! I think the rest of it will go in the freezer, and I’ll start back with eating healty TODAY! Yup! Today is a new day, and all of that. Thanks… :) Vee at http://veegettinghealthy.blogspot.com

  19. I also promise not to jump on it several times a day. I’ll try to keep it at once a week (or once a day….) :)

  20. I just started a serious diet and exercise program and don’t have scales. I need to win this!

  21. If I win, I am taking the scale to work. We want to start a Biggest Loser contest at our school and our current scale allows you to lose 5 lbs. if you raise your right hand (I am not joking)!

So, I wouldn’t be jumping off and on it all day long, but someone would be!

  22. Hah! HAH! I will *totally* hop on and off all day, if only to better appreciate the delight of a scale that weighs me accurately. Oh, cheap analog scale, how I won’t miss you at all. 😉

  23. I promise I won’t step on and off it a million times a day…. but couldn’t it count towards steps for your pedometer 😉

    just kidding!!! Thanks!

  24. Hope I’m not too late to enter!! I promise not to get on and off a dozen times a day! This new shiny scale would be nice to have for this nice shiny new year.

And thanks for the suggestion about “The Joy Diet” – I’ve checked into it and I think it sounds perfect!

  25. This scale looks awesome. I promise not to jump! I stick to once a week weighins for my own sanity.

  26. I promise not to weigh myself multiple times a day. And I really mean it, cause that’s not one of my things. I don’t even weigh daily. Makes me too crazy (crazier?) I stick with a once a week weigh in. First thing in the morning. Naked. After using the facilities and before consuming anything!

  27. *raising right hand* I do solemnly swear… to only weigh myself 7 or less times per week.

Don’t have a scale, and would be good to be able to know what I weigh without all the clothes, shoes and headphones on!

Just found your blog, just starting out a real/serious weight loss journey about now, and it will be good motivation! Thanks!
