Monday Motivation: Persistence

Mondays just seem to be made for motivation. This quote spoke to me recently and will serve as my mantra o’ the week:

A simple little truth, but profound both in its imagery and its reminder that no matter how fast or slow the river flows, it’s the fact that it persistently flows against the rock that’s most important.

At least, that’s what it says to me and I’m holding on to it. As long as I keep “flowing”, I’ll eventually cut through the various rocks in my path.

Wishing you a persistence-filled week ahead!

  1. Strength – something we all underestimate how much we really have!

Have a great week, Cammy. I hope this one is smoother for you.

  2. That is so true and a picture I can hold on to because of the time I spend in the mountains sitting by the river amazed at the strength of the water and its ability to pick up and move or cut through those car-sized boulders! Wonderful analogy!

  3. Oh thank you!!! I feel the same way about Mondays. It’s like that first day of school (remember that). For me it was the only day I wasn’t behind in anything yet. Anything is possible on Monday. Everything is possible.
This is a big one for me. I’m committing to diet again after maintaining my first loss for a couple of months.
    I’m ready!!
    xoxo

  4. That’s a great quote! what a great way to look at and start the week..lot’s of positive energy..this time of year it’s so hard to stick to exercise and diet sometimes we lose a little focus and need a gentle push in the right direction…

  5. This spoke VOLUMES to me! Thank you Cammy!!! I am willing to hold onto the rock as long as it takes!!!

  6. And the same wishes for the weekend back to you! It really is true that in whatever we’re doing, persistence and perseverance win the day.

  7. Great quote Cammy! Love it & that you are sticking with it thru thick & thin!

I have persisted for many many many years & thru good & bad times. We can do it with that persistence, patience consistency.

Hope the week treats you well!

  8. After 2 years of (mostly) eating healthy, I’m finally getting this concept. My head is as hard as a rock.

  9. Reminds me of my mantra while I was losing my weight – “You can’t fail if you don’t quit!” Helped me get back on the wagon, again and again and again.

  10. I’ve been thinking a lot about the meaning and purpose of life these past few days and there’s a blog post brewing. This quote just addressed another aspect of that rather weighty subject. I find it oddly reassuring. Thanks for sharing!

  11. Persistence is the key. After having failed at so many diets in the past, I am finally eating healthy and exercising consistently now. Even when I have an occasional slip-up, I get back on track much quicker now instead of staying off the wagon for days at a time and undoing all of my hard work.
