Year 4 Bloggiversary and Year-end Review

New Year’s weekend looms large and that can only mean one thing: time for celebrating my 4th Bloggiversary and taking a look back at the year just past! Like I had a fascinating year. LOL Well, maybe I did, in my own small way.

I hope you have grander plans for the weekend, but if you’d like to read highlights of the previous three years, you’ll find them at these links:
2010
2009
2008

But this post is about 2011, so let’s get to it!

January included some blogger buddy-making at Blissdom. I had loads of fun, met some awesome people, and wish I could go again in 2012, but the budget is not lining up properly.

Also in January, I played Recipe Fairy and tried to find some healthy-ish recipe for readers’ favorite comfort foods. That was loads of fun, and I’ll try to do it again in the months ahead.

And finally, I introduced you to Condom Guy at the gym.

Not the actual Condom Guy

I pouted a lot in February (winter blues), so I’ll spare you a re-hash of all that. 

March brought a 2-month 2-week road trip with my parents to Florida. After a week with them,
petting an alligator was nothing!

While traveling, I took advantage of close proximity to a couple of my fave blogger friends for a lunch meet-up that was much more exciting than we’d planned.

April brought an opportunity to attend Cupcake Camp, which I declined (I’m still waiting for my medal!) with a promise to check it out in 2012. On my to-do list!

May was an eventful month. I hurt my knee playing pickleball, and then my Red Velvet Cake Joys were cheated out of a ribbon at the annual neighborhood dessert social.

In June I was “barely” able to restrain myself from participating in Naked Bike Riding. I didn’t restrain myself from sharing the reasons breaking the rules seemed to help me lose weight.

July brought a mini-road tip to FitBloggin’ Local in Nashville, where a good time was had by all. Unfortunately, it was followed by oral surgery where a good time was not had by one.

I celebrated my birthday in August by taking a road trip to hot-as-hell Texas. Along the way, I managed to moon half the state of Arkansas and prove I may not be the brightest bulb in the pack. But I was bright enough to solve the problem of icky gym mats.

In September, I took you for a bike ride on the Memphis Greenline. So much fun and I didn’t crash! We also took a look at some crazy kitchen gadgets, just for kicks and giggles.

In October, I had the double thrill of 1) being included in Shape Magazine’s Inspiring Weight Loss Blogs, and even better, 2) meeting up with some of my favorite people (who just happen to be bloggers) for a weekend in Little Rock.

In November I embraced my inner street fighter and ate a Brussels sprout. I also launched a new blog in my usual itsy bitsy steps way.

And that brings us to December, which has been waaay too busy and hectic. I’m going to spend some time this weekend trying to figure out how to get my schedule under control again. Starting with my blog reader.

First, though, there’s work this morning. Before I go, I want to wish you all a VERY Happy New Year! You’re all part of the reason my previous years have been so rewarding and fulfilling, and I thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and ideas with me. What say we stand together and make 2012 the Best! Year! Ever!? Who’s in? :)
