Loose Ends

This week got a little wacky with my work schedule. I’m doing quite a bit of work from home and have a wee problem “clocking out” for the day and then staying out. I’ll learn. Besides, this client isn’t paying enough for me to work in the wee hours.

One thing I’ve been doing almost every night is to unwind by working a jigsaw puzzle. It’s a fun way to exercise my mind in a different way and also to let my subconscious have some wiggle room. Most of my worries these days are financial and they’re mostly unfounded, but the fact that they’re there can poke at me and make me do unnecessary things involving butter cookies, marshmallow fluff, and chocolate chips. Enter the jigsaw puzzle: it’s soothing and I can’t click and eat. :)

Anyway, I’d been wondering lately if it was time to take my irons out of the multiple fires they’re in and go back to a “regular job”. I think I got my answer in last night’s puzzle solution:

Ah, it always goes back to the reasons why, doesn’t it? :) So I’m digging in and hanging on for a while longer.

I share this not only because of the timeliness for ME, but because it might just nudge anyone who’s considering giving in to {insert your dilemma here} to dig in and hang on with me. Won’t we all have awesome biceps from all this hanging on?

Some random loose ends to tie up:
The Home Gym Giveaway I wrote about earlier this week? If I’m understanding the Official Rules correctly, there is a “cash option” you can take instead of the gym equipment. Hah! I thought that might prompt some of you to change your minds and enter! :)

In case you missed the cute heart in my sidebar and in case you don’t already follow Lori at Finding Radiance, you might want to run/walk/ride/lunge/whatever over there and sign up for her Bloggers’ Healthy Heart Weekend . I did it last year and have signed up again this year. It’s free, it’s fun, and I’m the one who benefits! Win-win-win!

I made another new-to-me recipe tonight: Sweet & Salty Chickpeas.

They’re tasty, but I picked up on the brown sugar/cinnamon and didn’t taste much salty. I’m okay with that. I’m not sure I’ll make these again unless I’m having company. It will depend on how they hold up for the next few days.

Speaking of recipes, I forgot to let y’all know that I shared a list of some of my favorite recipe resources on Serentipity this week. You know, with me being such a foodie and all. :)

I think that’s it. For this week, anyway. I hope you have a mah-velous weekend.

  1. Hope everything is okay with the job situation. It’s always a tough call to decide whether change is the right change.

working from home definitely has its drawbacks, but I don’t think I would give it up any time soon!

  2. I would have loved to work from home I think.. but becoming a teacher makes that kind of hard. I imagine 30 8-year olds here and suddenly feel find with not working at home :p

  3. I have a jigsaw puzzle, still in the box, just waiting for me. I haven’t done one in years but for some reason got the urge. It’s a better way to keep my hands busy than snacking:) Isn’t it amazing you you can find inspiration in the most unexpected of places:)

  4. WELL! I was a perfectly normal person until you had to go and post a link to the jigsaw puzzle site – aaaarrrrgggghhhh! Seriously – thank you, and I love your blog, Cammy! At this rate I’ll be svelte in no time – LOL.

  5. Hang in there with the consulting as long as you can. Once you’ve tasted that, it’s tough going back to a regular job.

Thanks for the kick in the pants about the heart healthy weekend. Gotta get signed up.

  6. Ha! Thanks for the tip about the contest. I had passed it by, thinking it would be a nightmare trying to fit $25000 worth of gym equipment into my tiny house. But money? I think I can find a place to fit that in!

  7. A cash option – that got my attention! My mom has started putting puzzles together. She said it helps her cope with stress and boredom. I haven’t worked on a puzzle for years but we use buy them and set them up when the Grandparents would come to visit us and stay for a week at a time.

I have found that the oven roasted chickpeas only stay crunchy the first day. After that they are softer but still tasty!

  8. I love jigsaw puzzles, but haven’t done one in years! Definitely something I should look into.

  9. Wow, I love your idea of doing jigsaw puzzles. In my case, I have to do some Sudoku; the kids will get mad if I touch their puzzles.

  10. ok so Im late and it is the flip side of the weekend but I needed that quote reminder.
    we’ve been tenacious too long–right?? :)

  11. Make sure you don’t put in too much overtime girlie! Good mental breaks are imperative for creativity and sanity. I work from home and there are times I wonder about a “real job” as well but I find the only aspect I miss of that is the social one and I guess that’s what great people like you are for! :-)

BTW, made your apple cups Friday night…awesome!! I can’t wait to make them again. Actually I think I have enough apple leftover to make 2 tonight for dessert and with all the hard work the Mr has put in this weekend, he deserves it! :-)

  12. Oh my goodness, I can’t wait to try this recipe. Thanks for sharing the recipe and the link. Awesome recipes, not that I will try them but I might.

  13. Sorry I hit submit to soon. Sorry you haven’t been feeling well but glad your feeling better now. Wow, it would be a tough decision to make about whether or now to got back to a “regular” job. I would not be as brave or adventurous as you.
