Rock Stars of the Week, March 15

The end of another week and it’s Rock Star time!

Being away from home presents special challenges to those of us with weight “issues”, so this week’s shout-outs go to some folks who traveled recently and maintained their dignity along the way:

Rockstars of the Week - Tippy Toe DietJane (Jane is Weighing In) went to Florida and stayed close enough to plan that she had only a fractional gain. Those of us y’all who have undone a month’s worth of loss in a single week of vacation know what a success this was. (Okay, okay, “us”.)

Debby (Debby Weighs In) planned her little heart out and had a (mostly) healthy-eating long weekend away. (There’s pictorial evidence of a brownie, but it’s a small brownie and not a whole pan.) Debby’s also traveling in new circles as a columnist for The Quilt Life magazine!

And finally, a shout out to my Memaw, who doesn’t have a blog but does possess a fine VHS collection of Mama’s Family episodes. Memaw had to make a little trip to the hospital this week. She never really got over a bronchial infection she had during the holidays, and some fluid had built up in her lungs. That’s gone now, and she’s at home, feeling better, and already planning to garden next week. I’m conferring Rock Star status on her for not complaining too much during her confinement. Just the normal Memaw amount. :)

What did YOU rock this week? I’ll give you ///back pats/// if you share!

I’m giving myself a pat on the back (///) for exercise, especially today’s strength training workout in which I did almost 100 squats (split between dumbbell swings and squat-rows) and also added in the new-to-me single-stance dumbbell deadlift. (Looking at the picture, I think I did it wrong, though. I can’t remember in which hand I held the dumbbell. Will pay attention next time. :) )

Side note:
Oprah interviewed Brené Brown recently, and the first part of the interview airs Sunday on the OWN network. If you’re like me and don’t have OWN, you can apparently access a simulcast on the page I just linked.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy weekend!

  1. Glad your memaw is doing better!

No real rockstar moment for me. However, I will give rockstar kudos for the person who fixed my beloved guitar!!

  2. That’s very sweet of you! I think I’d label that more of a rocky weekend than a rock star time! I feel like a rock star today though. I swam 30 lengths and I’ve started doing sprints. And now I’m having a fantastic cup of coffee!

  3. Thanks for the nod, Cammy. I must say that my diet has been good, but exercise could be better. I’m something of a slug. Kudos to you on that front. Also, I’m glad to hear that Memaw is doing better! She must have a great sense of humor if she is a “Mama’s Family” fan. I always loved that show!

  4. 100 squats?! WOW, big back pats to you!! I started week 2 of my Couch to 5K program and spent the weekend painting my house which turns out is a major workout :) Happy Monday

    • I never made it out of week 1, so kudos to you! :)

And yes, painting is an excellent workout. You’ve got step ups, squats, lunges, shoulder presses, and calf raises, just to name a few. If I had any talent for it, I’d drop my gym membership and take up painting for a living. LOL
