Visitor Info: March 2014

Last month, Judy suggested I make the visitor info posts a monthly event. I love reading your answers and learning more about you, so that sounds great to me!

visitori nfo 2Here are the questions for March:

* What’s your favorite T.V. show?
* If you had to eat the same breakfast every day for a year, what would it be?
* What’s the most unusual job you’ve ever had?
* What is the last book you read?

My answers:
Fave TV show: Psych (I’m watching a rerun as I write this), which just aired the season finale last week. Such a funny show, with a great ensemble cast. I’ll miss it and am looking forward to the return of Major Crimes this summer. Until then, it’s reruns of Renovation Realities. Both at home and on DIY network. :)

Breakfast: Oatmeal! There’s so much you can do with it. I currently have a slow cooker full of Martha’s Carrot Cake Oatmeal going. Breakfast can’t come soon enough for me!

Unusual job: I suppose my current primary job is the strangest one I’ve had. I never thought I’d be zipping around the countryside teaching restaurants how to manage a fancy soda dispenser. It’s fun though and it pays well. You can’t ask for much more than that.

Last Book: Jonathan Kellerman’s Victims, part of the Alex Delaware series. Kellerman is such a compelling writer. I feel like I’m walking around in his books. That’s not always a good thing, considering his books are psychological mystery/thrillers involving at least one gruesome murder. :)

With that, I’ll turn it over to you. As always, answer all the questions or pick and choose. It’s up to you!

  1. Here are the questions for March:

    * What’s your favorite T.V. show? The Americans with Cold Justice coming in a close second.
    * If you had to eat the same breakfast every day for a year, what would it be?
Eggs, they are very versatile and good protein!
    * What’s the most unusual job you’ve ever had?
    Toll Collector.
    * What is the last book you read?
    Jennifer Lancaster Twisted Sisters.

    • I forgot about Cold Justice, which I do watch via On Demand. I’m so glad this is a docu-drama program with Kelly and Yolanda vs. a supermodel detective series. (Not that there’s anything wrong with supermodels. I just can’t relate to them. :) )

  2. *My current favorite TV show is The Amazing Race.
*I pretty much DO eat the same breakfast every day – Fage nonfat plain Greek yogurt, fresh strawberries or Craisins, and homemade granola.
*I worked at Baskin Robbins as a teenager – I could scoop the hell out of ice cream back then and had the massive Popeye forearm to prove it, lol!
*Honestly, I haven’t read an adult book in a while…I did read several Sandra Boynton books to little Davis recently, does that count?

    • My very first job was as an ice cream scooper in my cousin’s ice cream shop. During the winter I think I ate as much as I scooped. :)

  3. I feel famous! :) LOL!

    * What’s your favorite T.V. show? -→ Castle
    * If you had to eat the same breakfast every day for a year, what would it be? I also tend to eat the same thing everyday. Right now, I’m stuck on oatmeal.
    * What’s the most unusual job you’ve ever had? My brother-in-law grew okra one summer and employed me to help pick it. Boy! That was an itchy summer!!!
    * What is the last book you read? I started Oliver North’s book, Heroes Proved last summer and haven’t finished it yet. :( Reminds me to finish it!

    Have a great day!

    • I might check out Castle on OnDemand. I saw a brief bit while channel surfing late one night and it looked pretty good.

Does okra get all slimy when it gets rained on? :)

  4. I love Jonathan Kellerman books with Alex Delaware – I’m not sure that I’ve read Victims (better check).

    Favorite show – Top Chef
I don’t always eat breakfast but if I had to eat the same – 2 hard boiled eggs
I was a maid for a summer during college (at a hotel) – it was actually a lot of fun
I just finished Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

  5. OMG, we record & watch a lot! 😉 I LOVE Grimm! Like Amazing Race too!

Breakfast – with my love of nutbutters & bread – I would say those two together… but non healthy – bagels are wonderful & cinnamon rolls! 😉

Job – I am BORING! Nothing really weird for me BUT I do have a gig coming up for a demo person for a nutbutter company – old people rule at that & I love nutbutters!

    • Mmm, peanut butter toast would be a close second for me. With sliced banana on top.

Ooh, a demo person. I always wondered what that would be like. I’d probably enjoy it for a couple of hours, and then I’d be like, “Don’t even come close to this if you have no intention of buying it.” LOL

  6. TV show – Either Renovation Realities or Rehab Addict (surprised? NOT)

Breakfast would be a bagel. And not just for breakfast but every meal!

My most unusual job was probably soapmaker. That was my business before we started Symphony Scents and moved to the supply side of it.

  7. TV show–Chopped, and The Voice and Dancing With the Stars.
Breakfast–only one??? Maybe my Bare Bones Scones, cause I can put different fruits in them.
Unusual job? I was a professional dog handler (showed other people’s dogs at dog shows) for a while.
Last book: I’m reading Eugene Peterson’s The Pastor right now.

    • I mostly watch Chopped for the drama. I’ve never seen a dish on there that I wanted to replicate. I think they should have an episode where they have to come up with a meal based on ingredients ordinary people might have on hand. Like a dessert with oatmeal, grape jelly (reduced sugar, of course), apples, and bacon. Wait, I could maybe do that one myself. :)

  8. Favorite TV show – Sunday Morning on CBS is my perennial favorite.

Breakfast – if I had to chose one it would be whole grain toast with peanut butter.

Unusual job – In college I was the overnight answering service for an Escort Agency. Working overnight allowed me to take classes I needed for graduation…it paid well and I lasted through the semester and left before I was permanently disgusted with men!

    • I’d work for an Escort Agency–as the phone answerer, of course–today if it paid well. With the advantage of Google, I could match men’s names to marriage/divorce records and tell the ones who didn’t pass the test to go home to their wives. :)

    • Sausage is one of those foods I love to smell, but not to eat so much. Mmm, if I close my eyes, I can almost smell some cooking now….

  9. * What’s your favorite T.V. show? Probably Grey’s Anatomy but I am loving Walking Dead and Good Wife right now.
    * If you had to eat the same breakfast every day for a year, what would it be? I do this all the time – choose a breakfast and eat it daily. It would probably be the concoction my husband has been making which he added to my current gluten-free eating; it’s tasty and very heart-healthy: quinoa, almond milk, walnuts, hemp seed, flax, chia, frozen berries, cinnamon.
    * What’s the most unusual job you’ve ever had? Nothing very unusual but I’ll go with working in a fabric store as a teen. Unusual because I knew nothing about fabrics or sewing; they hired me sight unseen because my mom was a customer at this new store and they needed help.
    * What is the last book you read? I’m on the third book of the Divergent series right now; the last book I finished was the second.

  10. TV: Too many to choose. I’ll go with new favorite – Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge and Amazing Race.
Breakfast: My usual – Glass of milk, piece of fruit, homemade granola (oats, wheat germ, almond slivers baked with honey.)
Book: Princess Elizabeth’s Spy – fictional WWII spy kinda thing
Job: Ah yes. At college I worked in the Fermentation Lab for the Beef Cattle Research Center. LOTS of stories from there ranging from my foot being stepped on by a cow, taking stomach content samples, making wine, and a few rather harrowing experiences.

    • It is a little known Cammy-fact that I have also had my foot stepped on by a cow. As for all the other cow stuff, you might have a book in there somewhere. Cow Tales by Jeannie. It’s catchy, huh?

      • Something we have in common! Did it break anything? Mine didn’t – but he just stood there with my foot trapped under his and me grunting and trying to shove him off. I think my title would be “What Beef Cattle, Wine and Fistulation hoof in Common” I’ll probably have to self-publish.

        • It didn’t break, but I had a horrible bruise.

If you could figure out how to tie in Obamacare, global warming, or maybe the Kardashians into your book, you might be able to attract the attention of a publishing house.

  11. * What’s your favorite T.V. show?

This is hard. I tend to despise TV right now but maybe that’s because my husband has control of the remote :) I guess we have different tastes. We both enjoy Grand Designs… English unusual builds.

    * If you had to eat the same breakfast every day for a year, what would it be? Please don’t be shocked. I know you are too polite to be judgmental :) I’ve been drinking my breakfast most mornings for a very long time. It used to be a berry, yoghurt, whey smoothie but for about the last year it’s usually coffee with coconut oil, coconut cream and heavy whipping cream. I like it and although I’m not trying to stay rigidly in nutritional ketosis this suits me well.

    * What’s the most unusual job you’ve ever had? I don’t think I’ve done anything particularly unusual. The most adventurous was developing and managing my own ‘Market Garden,’ with gate sales and a shop in a nearby village. After several years we closed up, totally broke.

    * What is the last book you read? The Black Hills by Nora Roberts. Not my first choice but what my lovely husband brought home from the library. Most of my current reading is light escapism.

    • Escapism is good, Margie Anne. I escape into cozy mysteries, myself. :)

I’m sorry your business didn’t work out, but I think it’s awesome that you pursued something adventurous like that!

  12. TV Show: I don’t have cable, but if I did I would watch HGTV 24/7! Some of my non-HGTV favorites that I’ve seen on Hulu, Amazon Prime, or on box set are The Walking Dead, Justified, Revolution, Sons of Anarchy, Storage Wars and Storage Wars:Texas. I have the last season of Fringe waiting for me on my coffee table right now.

Breakfast: I eat the same breakfast nearly every day already, so I guess I would just keep that going…a banana, a Fiber One bar, and a bottle of water.

Odd Job: Hmmm…I had a few oddball jobs when I was a teenager: pulling sunflowers by hand from sugar beet fields, picking rocks from fields, plucking chickens, ironing for a neighbor lady, babysitting newborn puppies for another neighbor (mama dog was unable to care for them), taking inventory for the local grocery store, and serving food cafeteria-style at events for a local caterer.

Book: I most recently read Twisted Sisters by Jen Lancaster. :-)

  13. Sort of late, but I’ll answer anyway:

    * What’s your favorite T.V. show?

Hmm…haven’t watched much TV this season. One of these days I’ll get around to watching Grey’s Anatomy though.

    * If you had to eat the same breakfast every day for a year, what would it be?

I would like to eat a Panera’s cinnamon crunch bagel…but in reality maybe a Kind bar dark chocolate chili almond.

    * What’s the most unusual job you’ve ever had?

Hmmm….I’m trying to think if I ever had an unusual job. I don’t actually think I’ve had anything particularly unusual. How boring of me.

    * What is the last book you read?

The last book I’ve finished is Like a Mighty Army be David Weber. I’m currently reading The Bride Wore Size 12.
